Time well spent with Birkett Educational Consultants and Nelson during this first #SeeUsLearnUs session. These histories were completely absent when I was an elementary and secondary student in Ontario. I am saddened, angered and humbled by my ignorance of the Black Canadian experience.

The big kids from Jean Lumb Public School bring their outdoor clothes to the gym during last period. This soft sculpture brought joy to our BishopMac_TCDSB kindergarten class as we walked by. We ♥️ our shared space.

Cold days, icy yards, muddy puddles, jumping from ledges....I'm thinking a lot about risky play. As an adult it makes me uncomfortable, but the children gravitate toward this way of experiencing their bodies in the world...

#BishopMacKinders in the Butterfly 🦋 Waterfalls studio have begun documenting their experiences. They express such joy retelling photo captures and adding such personal details. We’d been playing with representations of numbers to 10. Eight! Ocho!

Honouring& supporting children’s ability to self-regulate. The whole apple felt “too much” so they cut small slices until they felt full. The ability to chunk into smaller, more manageable parts, is a useful lifelong skill. #SelfReg #SEL #Kindergarten #BishopMacKinders
