Fear of using your voice is often trauma based. There’s a belief that if you share your thoughts they won’t be heard, validated or believed. Slowly you quiet your voice & lose touch with the words you truly want to speak. In service of survival, you silenced yourself.

There's a difference between avoiding certain people or situations because we're "afraid," vs. avoiding them because they trigger our nervous system into a massive reaction that hurts & exhausts us. Trauma survivors aren't avoidant out of "fear." "Courage" doesn't solve this.
