Every now and then I find one that is a knockout, this in Kirbymoorside. It demonstrates the importance of looking in those awkward spaces. A full roughcast which had been lined out, but the lining is (I think) to compress the mortar rather than formalise it. 🧵

Provincial Gothic frescoes painted in the 1460s found in one of the towers of the defensive wall of Honigberg/ Harman fortified church, in Saxon Transylvania. They were whitewashed at the Reformation and discovered in the 1920s during restoration works. #gothic #fresco #honigberg
