Conducting online auditory experiments? A new test based on dichotic pitch can help you screen out participants who probably aren't using headphones. With alice milne (she/her) Roberta Bianco Sijia Zhao Kat Poole Maria Chait (she/her) Preprint: biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

Got my first pair of glasses today! Did not realise I was only seeing the world in HD when I could have been seeing it in 4K 🤩. An unexpected side effect is that I now feel two feet shorter and keep walking around like I'm about to trip up on everything 🤨

If you want to talk training ferrets, random/regular tone sequences, recording from auditory cortex AND hippocampus (spoiler: neuropixels), then come to my poster (#83) at #apan2020 at 11:15 EDT/16:15 BST. Look forward to seeing you there 😃

We are fundraising for Gandalf the kitten's treatment (FIP which left untreated is fatal). If you don't want to contribute monetarily and still want to help, please consider sharing to anyone that would be interested. Any help is very much appreciated!😻 gf.me/u/zkg6dx

Waiting outside of the vet office, where our beloved Choobak is undergoing thoracocentesis (drain fluid from chest & abdomen) for the 5th time in the last 3 weeks. I've got some time on my hands, so thought I tell u about the bizarre case of Feline Infectious Peritonitis #FIP 1/

Herculean effort from Soraya Dunn - our first foray into ferret hippocampus; spoiler alert, it’s not like a 🦇, or a 🐀! 🧵 to follow…

How do ferret theta oscillations compare to what we see in rats? Ferret theta during movement looks just like the rat, but at lower frequency During immobility is where things get real interesting: ferret theta persists + is modulated by behaviour biorxiv.org/content/10.110… 🧵👇

Gave my first talk at a conference today at the Ferret Brain Meeting (meeting.neuroferret.org/home), and only went and won the Chapman award for the best talk!! 🥳

Come catch me at #ARO2022 ARO where I'll be presenting my ongoing PhD work (with Jenny Bizley and Maria Chait (she/her)) on Behavioural and neural measures of auditory regularity detection at the Non-auditory Factors in Auditory Processing podium at 9pm London, UK time! UCL Ear Institute

The hippocampus is richly involved in auditory processing & is itself shaped by sound. Our new preprinted review synthesises decades of recording, imaging & lesion work across species. UCL Ear Institute plus Meher Lad Will Sedley & Tim Griffiths Auditory Cognition Group #hippocampus #sound
