⚽️Parents: before hopping to another club, pause. Ask yourself: What are we actually looking for in our child’s soccer experience? Then identify 2–3 clubs that fit that vision. Visit their training session throughout the season. It’ll save you time, money, and another hop.

⚽️Parents: As we approach the fall season, please remember ⚽️ is a physical sport. Telling your kids to not push or to keep their hands down is hurting them. If you’re a parent who gets upset & scream for a foul because some kid bodied your kid, please educate yourself!

⚽️Parents: your child’s goals should be an ongoing conversation, with them and their coach. I’ve seen kids chase big dreams, then change their minds. I’ve also seen kids flip the switch and go all in. Open, honest, and regular communication keeps everyone aligned & adaptable.

Throughout middle & high school, I played daily after school with older Hispanic guys at the park. It made me tougher, better,& taught me how to earn respect. ⚽️Parents:Find one of these pickup sessions in your area & take your kid. The experience will boost their development.

The point of ⚽️ training is to help players succeed in the game, at whatever level they compete. Coaches: every session, every drill should answer one question, will this help the player perform better in the game? If the answer is no, don’t do it.

The art of coaching is not in the tactics, but it’s in the management of the people. This is brilliant player management.

In 🇺🇸, where kids don’t fall in love with the game through playing in the street, parents have to foster that love. Make the game part of everyday life, not just scheduled practices. Kick around in the backyard and watch games together. Passion starts at home.

Fall ⚽️ season is almost here! Some kids will be reaping the benefits of their summer work, while others will be facing the consequences of what they didn’t do. Parents: if your kid barely trained or trained poorly, please don’t start pointing fingers after a few games.

Peer learning is an underrated cheat code. Growing up, I saw a teammate ping a ball with perfect backspin. I studied it, & added it to my game. Parents: remind your kids to watch their teammates. See what they do well, & steal it. Learning doesn’t just come from coaches.

Performance determines outcome! ⚽️Parents: you can’t complain if your kid is not performing. No one cares what YOU think of your kid. If your kid has potential, it means nothing unless it’s realized. Otherwise. They will always be “could have been.”

It’s mind boggling how clueless most 🇺🇸parents & players are about how a player actually becomes good. They think it’s about playing in the right league or team. ⚽️Parents: find an environment & a coach that focuses on teaching, challenging & investing in your kid individually.

Mentality! The #1 skill I try to instill in my players. The right mindset toward success, failure, & setbacks. Never believe you’re too goo to try harder. Failure means the plan needs adjusting. Setbacks are a launchpad. ⚽️Parents:Teach your kids this, & change their lives.

We’ve got to stop mystifying player development. It hasn’t changed much: -Master the fundamentals. -Execute them at speed. -do it with confidence under pressure. That’s 99% of what pros do. ⚽️Parents: Your player doesn’t need to be flashy, doing the fundamentals well is all.

The mistake 🇺🇸⚽️& MLS Academies make is assuming all the top talents is at the “big youth clubs.” Truth is, some of the best players are at smaller clubs, for reasons like location, finances, coaching fit. If you only fish in the biggest pond, you’ll miss a lot of the best fish.

You need consistency to grow. ⚽️ Parents: as the fall season begins, your player needs stay consistent with their own training in order for them to continue growing. Don’t just rely on the twice a week team training.

As the fall⚽️season kicks off, all the off-season work only matters if it’s applied every training & every game. Parents: Remind your players, to continue pushing themselves at every session & every game.Or else, the fitness will fade, & sharpness will drop. Consistency is key.

As fall⚽️ kicks off, remember: The emotions of youth soccer can cloud perspective. Sports are a tool to help kid grow . ⚽️Parents: Before fighting for your kids to get their way, remember that the adversity & struggle they will face on the field is growing them!

High school ⚽️ is a big part of a kid’s experience in🇺🇸, but the lack of quality coaching & real development focus often makes it more harmful than helpful. We need to raise the standards so it’s not just social, but development too.

As we head into the fall ⚽️ season, another valuable lesson for players: Don’t complain about what you think you deserve, embrace what you’re given and earn the rest! ⚽️Parents: remember, this mindset isn’t just about ⚽️, it’s preparing your kid for life.
