-I want to stutter less while reading. -I want to have more expression in my voice while reading. -I need to slow down while reading! These are just some of the 2025 Reading Goals our Lockport Middle School 9s made after hearing recordings of themselves reading.

After viewing the film, The Last Holiday, our 9s wrote a letter to themselves about things they are proud of. Some statements- “your grandparents would think you take after Baba” and “you’ve worked so hard to overcome how self conscious I felt in gym”. So proud of these 9s!

Critical thinking, Social Studies concepts, ELA structured paragraph writing, and peer editing skills were all used by our 9s to create their latest writing samples.

Did you know our 9s always know their learning goal? In ELA, we are annotating to further our understanding. Today we annotated during a presentation on Canadian Courts and the Gladue Law. Combining ELA skills with SS content Lockport Middle School

This week our 9s analyzed music by Taylor Swift, Tupac, Kendrick Lamar, Michael Jackson and more to identify social justice themes and annotate for human rights connections. Ask your kiddo which song they picked and why! 🎶

We have a new student who got to have their very 1st SNOWBALL fight in class after completing an ice-breaker speaking exercise. The snowballs were the crumpled assignment. Our 9s had so much fun!

Our 9s each gave a presentation in honour of Black History. Students were required to speak for at least 2 minutes and demonstrate good speaking and listening skills. Many still find speaking in front of an audience challenging! We will keep practicing Lockport Middle School

Today in Tech Comm our students practiced using A.I responsibly. Ask your student how they can use #ChatGPT as a personal tutor!

Cross country Lockport Middle School is in full swing! We had 45 runners practicing yesterday.

The 7s have been busy reading, writing, speaking and researching!

Our 7s all successfully passed their 1st quiz on Physical and Human Geography features. As a bonus, they went on a scavenger hunt to identify these features and our winning group found 82 on school property!

Our 7s have Library time every week. Every kiddo has a book they read (for fun!) and we take turns reading with the teacher to build reading skills.
