Glad to see Archive: AG Karl A. Racine isn’t letting regulators get boxed into approving the Albertsons and Kroger merger by suing to stop Albertson's $4 BILLION special dividend payout in court! This payout is 57X LARGER than previous ones and would go to former #privateequity owners.

Vikram has dedicated his career to using the law to serve DC residents and played a key role in making our office the best in the US. DC is fortunate to have a person of Vikram’s intelligence, compassion, and proven ability to lead fighting for our most vulnerable residents.

As my time in office comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on the work my team and I have done on behalf of DC residents over the past 8 years. Our victories could fill many books, but I wanted to share just a few of the accomplishments I’m most proud of:

WIN: My office reached a settlement with Google requiring the company to pay $9.5 million for deceiving and manipulating consumers—including by using "dark patterns" to trick users and gain access to their location data.

My office reached a $3.5 million settlement with Grubhub for charging customers hidden fees and using deceptive marketing techniques. As a result, $2.7 million will be returned to the consumers who were impacted, and it will have to shape up and disclose every fee separately.

Protecting DC residents was the heart and soul of my mission as attorney general. We sued companies big and small and sent the message that taking illegal advantage, displacing residents, and harming our city was no longer going to go unpunished. dcist.com/story/22/12/29…
