"With the announced merger was a significant nearly $4 billion special dividend announcement, which could be valid or could amount to a massive improper giveaway to certain shareholders," says Washington D.C. Attorney General Karl Rancine.

NEW: We’re suing Shipt for misclassifying its full-time workers, cheating employees out of hard-earned wages and benefits, avoiding payment into public programs, and shifting routine business costs onto workers. Gig economy companies don't have a free pass to violate the law.

Folks have been asking about my 2nd vote in the at-large council race. Here's my answer: Elissa Silverman is the only candidate who has earned my endorsement. She is a champion for working families & tenants in DC. Unfortunately, the same can not be said for the other incumbents⬇️

.Archive: AG Karl A. Racine hits the nail on the head, says Albertsons $4 billion special dividend payment to its private equity shareholders is a "cash grab." Albertsons now says that's not connected to their merger with Kroger. "[Albertsons] didn't get their ducks in order, the law will."

Glad to see Archive: AG Karl A. Racine isn’t letting regulators get boxed into approving the Albertsons and Kroger merger by suing to stop Albertson's $4 BILLION special dividend payout in court! This payout is 57X LARGER than previous ones and would go to former #privateequity owners.

Thank you, Archive: AG Karl A. Racine for fighting back against private equity looting. Giving most of Albertsons’ cash to financiers & loading on more debt will hurt the company’s credit rating, leave less for workers & stores, & decrease Albertsons’ competitiveness.

Happy #electionday DC! I was proud to cast my vote for At-Large Councilmember Elissa Silverman & Ward 3 SBOE candidate, Michael Sriqui. DC tenants, workers, parents & students deserve elected officials who will fight every day on their behalf, not for big donors/special interests.

BREAKING: My office is suing Commanders owner Dan Snyder, the Commanders, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, and the NFL for colluding to deceive District residents—the heart of the Commanders’ fanbase—about an investigation into toxic workplace culture.

Today, I released a new report detailing the lack of independence at the DCHA and calling for reforms to the agency’s governance. The report is the result of months of research and conversations with tenants and stakeholders. Here are our recommendations:

As my time in office comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on the work my team and I have done on behalf of DC residents over the past 8 years. Our victories could fill many books, but I wanted to share just a few of the accomplishments I’m most proud of:

WIN: My office reached a settlement with Google requiring the company to pay $9.5 million for deceiving and manipulating consumers—including by using "dark patterns" to trick users and gain access to their location data.

My office reached a $3.5 million settlement with Grubhub for charging customers hidden fees and using deceptive marketing techniques. As a result, $2.7 million will be returned to the consumers who were impacted, and it will have to shape up and disclose every fee separately.

Protecting DC residents was the heart and soul of my mission as attorney general. We sued companies big and small and sent the message that taking illegal advantage, displacing residents, and harming our city was no longer going to go unpunished. dcist.com/story/22/12/29…

Had the opportunity to stop by CNBC International while meeting with clients and colleagues in London. Global companies conducting business in the US are intently focused on partisan anti-ESG efforts in Congress and in states. Hogan Lovells assists clients in this arena every day.
