Today is #InternationalDayOfDemocracy. A reminder that democracy is about representation. But in Nigeria, women make up nearly 50% of our population yet hold less than 5% of seats in the National Assembly.

The Special Seats Bill is a proposed constitutional amendment to fix this. It creates additional seats reserved for women in the National & State Assemblies.

✅ It doesn’t take away men’s seats. ✅ It is temporary (with a review after set years). ✅ It ensures women’s voices are heard in governance.

When women are at the table, policies on education, health, justice, and youth empowerment get stronger. Representation = better outcomes.
