Control of border positions from where that territory is just visible (!) on the undemarkated (approximate) border does not amount to occupation. Azerbaijan needs to have effective control - administer these territories, to occupy them. These calculations are empty and false.

It is much more complicated than this explanation here, and has little to do with modern Ukriane as well as Russia - but that Golden Horde connection is undeniably important for continuity of Russia as a state, and it did impact it fundamentally.

Ah, the infamous "shared sovereignty". That was proposed back in the day for Karabakh conflict. We all know how it went with that plan. The truth is, with our current understanding of what "nation-state" is... 0 chance that this is workable conflict-resolution or peace strategy.

Karabakh was never about ethnicity and always about territory. Ethnic and political complications were always effects, never causes of this conflict. Neither was religion involved in any way meaningfully. Do not mix up cause and effect.

The guy who ordered (or was ordered to order) cluster bombings on civilians in Ganja and Barda (Azerbaijan) in 2020, leading to the worst single attack civilian death toll of the war. Ganja and Barda were both outside the zone of hostilities.

Here is the thing. I don't see history as one continuous conspiracy theory with all event interlinked and in logical progression. There is certain logic, but it mostly like a nard (backgammon) game - some logic is involved, but a lot of roles of dice matter.

Narrator: Not how this works. States themselves have the primary responsibility to prosecute any war crimes within their jurisdictions. International courts and tribunals have only complementary jurisdiction in cases where states in question are unwilling or unable to prosecute.

It is called an obligation everywhere. Nothing fake about country prosecuting violent separatists that committed war crimes. Any country would do that. Just because you think otherwise for political reasons, doesn't make Azerbaijan wrong here.

That I've to explain to people that Karabakh conflict was territorial is crazy. How little is public understanding of international conflicts? Just because conflicting parties start to hate each other during conflict, doesn't mean they started fighting cause they hated each other
