People of Color in Publishing and the work done there wouldn’t exist without Kait, she pushed me to do it and was so heavily involved. She encouraged so many, including myself in major ways. Any team would be so lucky to have her. She is a brilliant editor and fantastic colleague to have!

Kait Feldmann was the very 1st editor who gave my story a chance, who filled my heart with delight & even renewed my hope for the future of children's books. She is wise beyond her years & passionate about ALL her books. She is fierce in her fight for BIPOC representation. (1/2)

I feel so lucky and honored to work with Kait. Kait is truly a dream editor to work with; she's brilliant, passionate, funny, and thoughtful. She brings the best out of the creator/author. I'm sure she will do her magic wherever she goes✨

#kidlit needs Kait. Back in '21, she led the BIPOC Picture Book Club: read-aloud evenings for adults who love the craft. Our industry usually keeps us at arm's length, but Kait created a warm, welcoming space where un-agented newbies, editors and veteran illustrators were equals.

Elmo saw like 50k trauma dumps in one day and got the whole squad coming together like the damn mental health avengers.

Last week, the first book Kait acquired received a Caldecott Honor. Her vision is unmatched. She is an incredible person outside of her work to make this industry a safe place for all, and I would not have become an editor without her support and passion.

Kait acquired stories by BIPOC creators that weren’t just centered around pain.

BIPOC kids deserve books about boys who dance & rhinos on planes. Kait made that happen + much more.

There’s nothing I can type that expresses how much of a gift Kait is to ME and to publishing. 🤎

Yesterday my position as Senior Editor at Harper was eliminated. I’m heartbroken and unsure what’s next. But I’m fiercely proud of the work I was able to do, and am inspired by my colleagues, authors & illustrators who see magic in our world and work tirelessly to make it real.📚

Since there’s no soundtrack for Brandy’s Cinderella but I want to listen to it on repeat all day I should buy a portable dvd player and bring it everywhere with me right.

Proud of all the BIPOC wins this award season but I also can’t help feeling a little depressed that we’re still in an era of firsts. Kinda pathetic how much white supremacy fears talent.

My algorithm has informed me that I have drunk mom energy (I don’t drink or have kids) 😂
