Today, I joined a huge lobby of Parliament, led by disabled people, against the proposed cuts to disability support. I made clear once again: these cuts are cruel and unjustifiable and must be dropped. If the Government refuses to drop them, I will vote against them.

I lost the Labour whip for voting to scrap the 2 Child Limit. I am pleased that so many people, including Gordon Brown, are now calling for it to go as well. Labour needs to get back to being the party that tackles poverty not one that creates more poverty with benefit cuts.

The disability benefit cuts will push many into homelessness. So I asked the Government the expected cost of this higher homelessness. They've not even bothered to look at this yet! Yet the vote is expected next month. Totally irresponsible. These cruel cuts must be dropped.

It's precisely five years today since Dominic Cummings gave a press conference in the Downing Street garden to explain why the rules didn't apply to him. What crazy days those were.

More than 100 of the UK’s most high-profile disabled people urge the Prime Minister to abandon the “inhumane and catastrophic plans to cut disability benefits”. My exclusive: theguardian.com/society/2025/m…

The fundamental problem with suggestion to dilute EHC Plans is that they *reflect* #SEND needs, they don’t create needs. Govt can reduce statutory entitlements, but can’t legislate away need - so any new framework will break just as the current one has unless properly resourced

“Do policy-makers think children and young people with SEND are important enough to prioritise and fund?” That’s the question our Senior Solicitor put to Education Committee two weeks ago. Right on cue, fresh media speculation followed about SEND reform and the future of EHC plans.
