When we say it’s all about the kids, just remember the kids learn in an environment created by the teacher. A teacher who is supported, encouraged and appreciated will create a more positive and dynamic learning environment than a teacher who is not supported that way.

Teachers who are passionate, on the ball, sometimes outspoken and have high expectations in the classroom, also have the same expectations of their leaders. Effective leaders embrace these staff members because they know together they make each other better! Iron Sharpens Iron

Good leaders know that--whether you get it right, or get it wrong--you're accountable for how you lead. When you hold yourself accountable, other opinions matter a lot less. Good is not enough. What is wrong with being great?

This! All day. The campus culture can make or break a school. We have to do better at treating our teachers like the champions we tell them that students deserve. If we want them to be champions, we have to treat them like champions.

As an administrator, I was fortunate enough to figure out that leadership isn't always about evaluating, giving feedback, or critiquing. Sometimes, it's about offering words of encouragement or praise, and other times, it's about saying nothing at all and simply being present.

Leaders don't have to remember what it was like to be a teacher if they spend enough time in the classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, bus line, and more. Compassion is about being present and engaged where it matters most.

YES!! I got to see so much of this during this school year! It’s amazing to get to see teachers feel proud of their own growth! I got to work with some of the hardest working teachers ever this year! ❀️

Wise leaders understand that walking away from a losing battle is not a failure of gritβ€”it’s a triumph of wisdom.
