Annual PSA: here we are, three Asian American Illinois House reps—three DIFFERENT people—(L to R) me, Rep Janet Yang Rohr, CFA and Rep Sharon Chung.
Here are the vote results. As my colleague Rep Gregg Johnson helpfully pointed out during debate, if the 118 members of the House were comprised of scientist, that board would have 114 yeas.
Thank you to all of my House colleagues for their support in voting for this legislation to protect students from AI-fueled bullying. Now it’s onto the Senate with Senator Adriane Johnson!
Big news for the future of education in IL: HB 4895-requiring climate change education just passed in the IL House & Senate. It heads to the Gov! Thank you to Senator Adriane Johnson, Rep. Janet Yang Rohr, CFA & Kim du Buclet for their work to move this through the General Assembly. #twill
Closed out #SouthAsianHeritageMonth by making over a 170 phone for Saba Haider , and also made friendship bracelets for AAPI 2024 Democratic National Convention Delegates! Thanks to State Rep. Janet Yang Rohr, CFA for joining us, and we are so excited to see our country's #AAPIDems in Chicago next week!
So impressive that Central Times earned press credentials to the 2024 Democratic National Convention!
Getting situated for night 3 of 2024 Democratic National Convention. That balloon drop is going to be pretty amazing.
Thanks Libby Magnone, for spreading the word. Make your voice heard on the Right to Play Act!
Nice work on all of your advocacy, Libby Magnone. Right to Play Act, HB3037, needs everyone’s support. See below to file a witness slip as a proponent and help make this change happen for Illinois student athletes!
Huge thanks to Ram Villivalam, IHSA, the coaches, athletic directors, principals, advocates, and especially the student athletes and families who helped make this happen. These changes will create more opportunities throughout Illinois and are a real win for all.
