Have just had a brilliant few days supervising Imperial Earth Science & Engineering mapping students in the French Pyrenees at Lers (the original home of lherzolite). Awesome metamorphics of the Hercynian Trois Seigneurs massif - here is sillimanite pseudomorphing kyanite....

Congratulations to LODE student Chetan Nathwani who just passed his PhD viva with minor corrections. Fab thesis entitled "Magmatic controls on porphyry copper deposit formation and machine learning tools for exploration". Well done Chetan! Science at the Natural History Museum FAMOS #VamosFAMOS

The Assynt window: Cambro-Ordovician seds of the Iapetus margin, major Scandian thrusts, mylonites (including a wet visit to the Moine) and their associated duplex structures, plus syn-tectonic(?) shear fabrics in the outer components of the Borralan syenite pluton Geology at Leicester

Very excited to announce that Tom Bailey / Mechanimal, supported by FAMOS, will be premiering a new show "Megalith" at the Edinburgh Fringe - a wild journey back to the origin of mining. Just arrived In Denver for SEG2022 - Looking forward to presenting outcomes from the Natural Environment Research Council FAMOS project! Science at the Natural History Museum Imperial Earth Science & Engineering #VamosFAMOS

#SEG2022 in Denver has started, and some great conversations about Science at the Natural History Museum and Natural Environment Research Council FAMOS are already being enjoyed. Couldn't stop talking even though the welcome reception had finished 😂

Happy to share that Chetan Nathwani's latest paper on convolutional neural network classification of zircons from porphyry systems is just out in JGR Solid Earth: dx.doi.org/10.1029/2022JB…. Well done Chetan! Natural Environment Research Council FAMOS Science at the Natural History Museum

Check out our new paper led by Chetan Nathwani in Contribs - Using apatite inclusions in zircon to reconstruct magmatic volatile evolution in the Quellaveco porphyry system Science at the Natural History Museum FAMOS link.springer.com/article/10.100…

Getting set up for AMIRA's Exploration Managers meeting 2023, hosted by the Natural History Museum and supported by Science at the Natural History Museum . Looking forward to a fascinating couple of days listening to very diverse presentations from cutting edge exploration to ESG and mine closure.

Check out this fully-funded PhD with BHP Minerals to develop the new generation of porphyry search tools using detrital mineral chemistry, based in the #LODE group in Science at the Natural History Museum at the iconic Natural History Museum, London, Deadline 9/2/24. lnkd.in/ePBVYbSs (Search Jobs)

About to depart for Toronto and #PDAC2024 - Looking forward to talking about Natural History Museum Consulting and collaborative research opportunities. Drop by booth 338 in the Trade Show and say hello! nhm.ac.uk/business-servi…

Just out today in Nature Geoscience! nature.com/articles/s4156… Happy to highlight this paper led by Tom Lamont which integrates diverse datasets to make a case for water fluxed crustal melting as a control of porphyry-Cu genesis Science at the Natural History Museum Imperial ESE BHP Bristol Uni UCL
