We each tell two stories about our intimate relationships. A story about why we should be with the person, and a story about why we shouldn’t. We often hold both stories in our heads at the same time. But like a weighted scale, the one we lean into most tends to win out.

When clients or friends talk to me about their relationships, I’m less interested in how their interests align with a partner, and more interested in how their body and nervous system feels in the presence of that person. That’s emotional/somatic bedrock of the union.
