Emergency Planners are Pessimistic Optimists working with the Reasonable Worst Case Scenario. We are not oracles but we get to know what feels likely. Here are some things we are readying for in the UK in 2025: 🧵

It is difficult to put into words just how tough it is for our frontline staff at the moment. We are really worried about the toll that flu and other viruses are taking on our patients and on services across the NHS. 🧵 ⬇️

The Great Fire of London burned 436 acres and has been remembered for centuries. Today’s disasters are orders of magnitude bigger yet often fade much faster from collective memory.

Last Friday, David Reed MP MP for Exmouth and Exeter East, visited our East Devon Operations Centre (EDOC). During the visit, some of our HART Paramedics showcased some of their rigorous training practices, offering a fascinating insight into the crucial work they do. 🚑

Great day with our SWASFT EPRR Capabilities Command Development Team doing my annual command development and relicensing day. Fantastic to see the use of XVR to bring a level of immersion to classroom based learning. Some great discussions and scenarios! South Western Ambulance Service

The National #Ambulance Uniform User Group works to improve the #uniform offer for staff across the sector. #Female-fit trousers will be added to the catalogue this year but there's much more to do, and we welcome applications to join from all staff. 👉 aace.org.uk/news/evolving-…

Our UK Ops team is looking for a Reservist Captain and a Major who might be up for joining a great team and one of the best, most interesting Res jobs. If they live in DCIoS area or the Channel Islands, that'd be great. Royal Wessex Yeomanry CO 6 RIFLES 165 P&M Regiment RLC can you help?

Defib pad placement is important. Positioning them correctly can double someone’s chance of survival. Side A is correct. The key difference is that the pad on the left hand side of the chest has been placed on the side of the rib cage, closer to the armpit.

While in Manchester I visited the memorial to honor the 22 lives lost & many more affected from the 2017 attack. Working in Emergency Preparedness, it reinforces people are the centre of our work, it’s not about tick box exercising. Continuous learning & improvement is essential
