This week, we welcomed PhD student Viktória Alžbeta Sutórisová to talk about her paper on the Venice Commission's evolving role in reforms of the Central & East European countries' judiciaries, shedding light on the impact of judicial councils as both safeguards & gateways for external control🏛️

🎙️ We hosted Jakub Harasta from the Institute of Law and Technology and Research, for a seminar on LLMs in judiciary research, discussing their use, limitations, and data preprocessing. As we explore their future role in our research, understanding these aspects is key.

On Thursday, JUSTIN members spoke at the conference 'European Court of Human Rights and Climate Change' at the Faculty of Law in Brno. David Kosař joined a panel on courts & future generations Viktória Alžbeta Sutórisová Michal Kovalčík and Patrick Leisure discussed ECtHR climate complaints🌍⚖️


We were pleased to host Michal Soltes from the Charles University, who presented "The Ripple Effect of Judicial Harshness". His research shows how an initial harsh sentence can lead to harsher future sentences—a ripple effect with lasting impact. 🎯
