1/? I've had a few people ask me why I prefer Thorlabs posts over their cages. The argument for cages is self-defeating: supposedly they provide pre-aligned centration, but mechanical tolerances =/= optical tolerances. You end up having to put everything on kinematic mounts...

A couple of treats from Quantinuum's new 32 qubit quantum computer are now up on the arxiv. We benchmarked the H2 device and showed an average two-qubit gate fidelity of 1.84(5) 10^-3. We also measured a quantum volume of 2^16=65,536 arxiv.org/abs/2305.03828
