Photoshop for text. In our #CHI2025 paper “Textoshop”, we explore how interactions inspired by drawing software can help edit text. We consider words as pixels, sentences as regions, and tones as colours. #HCI #NLProc #LLMs #AI Thread 🧵 (1/10)

Jun and I co-proposed a CHI workshop on HCI systems research in-the-wild. Frankly the 1AC got confused and thought we were arguing for more empirical studies of existing systems. 🤦🏻‍♂️ We were rejected. If you’d like to see this kind of workshop at a future CHI, let us know.

I enjoyed learning and discussing at the Anime SIG at #CHI2025 - about the anime industry, the role that creativity support & hci/ai research could play, the influence of/on culture & human identity... Thanks to the organizers! heres my notes…

Thank you, #CHI2025! The closing plenary is over, and I hope the attendees enjoy the rest of their stay. The closing keynote by Wakamiya-san was quite phenomenal, courageous and, if I may say so, very "Japanese" in multiple ways that I like.

My largest remaining NSF grant, which was awarded by a competitive process on the recommendation of national experts, was terminated yesterday. The money would have paid for PhD students to invent better AI systems for everyday people who need programs written for them but ...

My HCI friends have asked about my industry job search experience, so I decided to write it up in case it helps future technical HCI PhDs. medium.com/@tracyyxchen/m…
