In 2023 Georgia implemented a non-ACA, work-requirements-based-Medicaid expansion. At the end of the first year, 80% of the total cost of the program was eaten up by a new complicated online system to determine applicants' eligibility, 5x more than what was spent on their care !

I told Congress they're killing poor kids in Gaza by buying bombs, and they're paying for it by kicking poor kids off Medicaid in the US. This was the authorities' response.

A great piece. So many people have been tricked into thinking welfare recipients of all kinds are just capable workers sponging off the system and I don't know how many times we have to point out that's really never the case. nytimes.com/2025/05/16/opi…

donald the dove I like a lot of the abundance agenda on face value, but this isn't a policy debate. It's a political one. The abundance rebuke to left is actually that we don't need working class organization; we can pass technical regulation cuts and ride the market worm to accomplish our aims.

I’ve never heard anyone say “Boy, I don’t have to get a job because I’ll get Medicaid & $6 a day in food stamps.” I see corporations making record profits paying wages so low their workers need food stamps & Medicaid subsidized by taxpayers. Blame the corporate welfare queens.

I want every Michigan Democrats to know that Rep. Haley Stevens is on this list of congressional reps calling for an expansion of Trump’s immigration policies. This is our front runner in the dem primary for Senate, are these the values we want brought forward? There are other choices.

I know every generation feels like it is living through the end of times but war with Iran and critical heat warnings across the country sure makes it hard to conceptualize what the next 35 years of my life are going to be.

Only 8% of Americans know Medicaid is on the line. One reason the ACA survived 2017 was volume from activists and legislators! The former has been doing its best, but while individuals have stepped up, the Dems as a party haven't shown up. Instead, leadership is doing this:
