I am furious that there are PIs that put on a good face about diversity but bring BIPOC people into dysfunctional environments that cause them harm. I am starting a list of research labs I will never send BIPOC (or any) trainees.

“Stanford University, accomplice to rape,” and more chants rang throughout Friday afternoon, as scores of protestors charged Main Quad with demands for accountability and action from the administration. The protest follows a string of recent reports of sexual violence on campus.

Today, a man fell through my room’s ceiling in my $1500 a month Stanford housing apartment. Stanford refuses to respond for physical and emotional damages. Two thoughts: 1. This is why we need a union 2. This is not what I meant when I sang “It’s raining men, Hallelujah!” 😭😭😭

We hear that Univ California President Drake - who earns $1m and lives in a house worth $6.5m - will announce that those on strike, including faculty, will have pay docked for demanding that everybody should be able to afford to go to graduate school. That's why we need #FairUCNow

Stanford University, do better. Charging a grad student $225/day for having a family member come help with childcare (due to an unexpected work trip) is inflexible and discriminatory to families that have to work two jobs to afford to live in the community.

Grad program admissions should stop expecting undergrad applicants to basically have their PhDs already. The purpose of grad school is to find interests, be trained, and publish. But nowadays it seems like this is a requirement for grad admission rather than a program purpose
