Very relatable thread to my experience. Recently had a faculty staff said to me: you worked so hard for your PhD, and now you’re in tech sales. I smiled in return, slightly disheartened by those who think that PhDs are only successful if u stay in academia.

My PhD advisor/all-time mentor Cather Simpson an amazing scientist who brought me into research, a great role model, always supportive 2/n

Everyone Photon Factory where I made lifelong friends, all the smart, young, talented ones who made it a fantastic group to work with 3/n

My postdoc advisor Neil, a great physicist, always inspiring & patient with me (a physical chemist) trying to learn laser physics 3/n

All staff & students Physics at the University of Auckland SCS.at.UoA who have made things easier at times, helped through all the little things 4/n

I will sorely miss everyone here. It's been an amazing journey and experience. Thank you all! ❤️
