In unhealthy cultures, people see rest as taking your foot off the gas pedal. You don't stop until you've pushed yourself to the brink of exhaustion. In healthy cultures, people see rest as a vital source of fuel. You take regular breaks to maintain energy and avoid burnout.

No one is alone when it comes to stress and mental health. It’s ok to not be ok. Thanks to Secretary Mike Naig and ISU Extension and Outreach for supporting this very important work.

So cool that Ted Lasso featured Lake City, Iowa’s own Dobson Pipe Organ Builders. Such a unique business built by amazingly talented people in my hometown, small town Iowa. who13.com/news/siouxland

Drought conditions can leave residual nitrates in the soil & could cause water quality problems in the spring. Plant cover crops to reduce nitrogen loss by 28%. Iowa Dept of Agriculture & Land Stewardship offers $5/acre discount on crop insurance premiums for planting cover crops. ow.ly/i9ly50GiFNJ

A wonderful tribute to the late Rep. John Landon at the Iowa State Capitol today. The sugar maple tree planted in his honor was watered by John’s brother using water from the pioneer fountain. A fitting memorial to a great family man, statesman, farmer and community leader

We tip our hats to those who burn the candle at both ends. The men and women who work in the searing heat and bitter cold to put food on our tables and clothes on our backs. Thanks to our farmers who hit the ground running day in and out to feed and fuel our nation. #FarmersDay

Iowa Local Food Day encourages farmers and schools to work together to get nutritious, Iowa-grown produce and protein into the hands of students, as well as enhances hands-on learning, creates food markets and strengthens local economies. A win for kids, farmers and communities.

I got to zoom with awesome Ankeny 4th graders about #IowaAg before their field trip to Living History Farms. The kids prepared an introduction, asked great questions and made the sweetest thank you card.

You butter believe it! It's the first annual #NationalButterDay! A day dedicated to celebrating butter’s long history and honoring the storied tradition of butter making in the United States. A yearly must-do at the great Iowa State Fair is scoping out the sculpted butter cow.
