#ReadAcrossAmerica Day is next week. Many schools still spend the week centering Dr. Seuss. But it's important for educators to understand and discuss his history of racist caricatures—and think about the message sent when he's celebrated uncritically. learningforjustice.org/magazine/its-t…

This year more teachers will likely be leaving teaching than ever before, and not because they no longer care about their students or don’t love teaching, but because society doesn’t care about or value them.

Our school libraries must be open and staffed by a full time certified school librarian every single school day! All MCPS students need and deserve this. Library access should not depend on enrollment numbers.

Teachers are an extraordinary force for good in our nation — I’m lucky enough to be married to one and have seen firsthand how hard they work for their students. This year teachers have gone above and beyond to help children learn through the pandemic. So please, thank a teacher.

I would argue education is not data or curriculum driven and not even student driven. Education is relationship driven. Teachers thrive w/ positive admin relationships & students thrive w/ positive teacher relationships. Relationships drive education.

Tucker, last week: The NSA is SPYING on me and the surveillance state is an ABOMINATION! Tucker, this week: All teachers need to be actively surveilled at all times so we can police their every word.

Make sure every child experiences some level of success early on. Success builds confidence. We have some students with little or no confidence and they become disengaged and even demoralized.

Libraries are magic places where kids can learn about people & places & things they’ve never seen. Making it political “is a disservice to students & an insult to librarians who are highly trained on what’s age-appropriate.”They don’t need micromanagement. tn.chalkbeat.org/2022/2/14/2292…
