I think this is one of the worst scandals I've uncovered and yet it remains somewhat under the radar. Wes Streeting has ordered an inquiry into the scandal. Camilla Kingdon has handed in her report to Department of Health and Social Care. Why hasn't it been published?

Thank you Michelle Welsh MP for raising awareness of baby loss and leading this vital debate in Parliament. I urge all MPs to attend on 13 October and give our precious babies a voice. We must ensure accountability for past failures and create a safe future for maternity care.

The brave families have fought long, and hard for an independent inquiry into maternity failures by Leeds Hospital - let's hope there will be accountability for all these families #maternitysafety #accesstojustice

NEW: The rapid review into maternity care in England has chosen to remove the Shrewsbury and Telford NHS trust from the 14 orgs it was going to examine. It says its to protect the integrity of an ongoing police investigation into care at the trust. But...

NEW: The chief executive of the Care Quality Commission has quit following the announcement of an independent inquiry into maternity care at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. Sir Julian Hartley had spent a decade leading the trust & families had called for his resignation.

CQC boss Julian Hartley has resigned from CQC in the wake of the Govt announcing an inquiry into maternity at his old trust. This was always going to be a problem for him - he had recused himself of any decisions on Leeds while at CQC but it was getting more difficult. 1/2

Privilege to act when families have been let down. Absolute pivotal moment in 2016, when action could have been taken, and further harm could have been prevented. Leigh Day #stohr #addenbrookes #medicalnegligence

I do not see anything in this piece on how you can " fix" the maternity crisis. A no fault scheme will impact access to justice for families, and cap costs for those that have been injured by avoidable harm.Disappointing the focus is on the cost of harm instead of improving care.
