My son was so excited to start his first day in Y7 but instead he had 5 hours of this. It was crushing. Please just get them learning straight away!!

A staff well-being trip today to watch Lancashire Cricket in the Vitality Blast. Thank you to Fazeela (Lancs Development Officer) who has been working with school on the Proof of Concept project & gave staff tickets for their work this year! Start of a great relationship!

Calling all #historyteacher's. What is your favourite source and why? To use in a departmental meeting where we are discussing source use in the classroom. History Teacher Book Club SHP Historical Assoc

Emily P History Teacher Book Club SHP Historical Assoc A court for King Cholera. We start off by playing ‘historical hide and seek’ where they have to pick a person in the drawing and write 5 clues to help their partner work out who they are. It always opens up all kinds of discussions as to what is happening, and why.

Emily P History Teacher Book Club SHP Historical Assoc Love a WWI source/political cartoon especially sources that depict Kaiser Wilhelm and the extent to which he is blamed for causing the war, as well as other factors like the alliance system, imperialism and militarism...so many factors in one source.

#wellbeing #leadership #winning #culture So pleased to come back to Atherton High School after a year away. And I find this in my pigeon hole already. Thank you Ben Layzell 😊

Redesigned a few displays in the department recently including updating a new green ‘How to improve your writing’ Thanks again to Hugh Richards for this. It’s green because students get extra credit from me for using these key words in their writing (marked with my green pen).

I know a lot of teachers were initially thinking negatively about having to finish Autumn term so late, but have since realised one thing for sure: the January 8th/9th restart is GLORIOUS! #EduTwitter

‘Teaching students how to study is just as important as teaching them the content’ (Dunlosky, 2013) Here is what our ‘Developing independent learners’ tutor time curriculum looks like 💭 🧠

In the interest of not gatekeeping, heres a basic ppt on how to make mini timetables for lanyards. It's nothing revolutionary. But may save you 2 mins of working things out. Link: tinyurl.com/3czvcp3s (download it as actual ppt and not open via google slides as it won't work)
