Respectfully here is what Jeff is missing—and this isn’t personal; just a matter of deep philosophical difference. Jeff’s approach to powerful corporate interests saying we have to jump is “tell me how high!”Mine is “why?” He sees these forces and assumes inevitability; I don’t.

But here’s the thing: none of these things are inevitable. They’re all choices. And sometimes they’re good choices: I’m not reflexively to corporate power. Sometimes it’s an efficient way of doing things. But sometimes it’s really fucking dumb and ought to be called out.
