After returning from the CSH Drosophila meeting, I’ve been in a state of despair over the horrific terrorist attacks in Israel. I can’t imagine how difficult this must be and I don’t have the right words, but wishing strength to all those so deeply affected by this tragedy.

Congrats to Andres Crane, who defended today and earned his PhD on mechanisms mediating neuronal diversity in Drosophila neurons.

Congrats to my wonderful graduate PhD advisor. I don't know a better geneticist and a more generous scientist that Hugo. Well-deserved and couldn't be prouder to have trained with the best!

Dear colleagues – we have an opening for a postdoctoral associate in the lab to study the molecular machinery of synaptic transmission and mechanisms by which neuronal subtypes differentially control synaptic strength. If you know of someone interested, have them email me. Thanks

Lost one of my favorite scientists and former MIT mentor with the passing of Mary-Lou Pardue. She was a remarkable scientist and an outstanding person. I learned how to teach during our early years running the MIT Biology project lab together. A life worth celebrating!

Any Drosophila experts have a recommendation for a commercial anti-GFP antibody that works great on Westerns for detecting UAS-tagged GFP proteins?
