This work, conceived and led by Chloe Fouilloux (she/her), is now on bioRxiv. If U, like me, learned that tadpoles rely on chem signals to deal with the 🌍 around them, have a look at how the visual env of their rearing sites impacts how they perceive risk! biorxiv.org/content/10.110…

How do brightly colored organisms survive long enough to warn predators when they are easier to predate than their cryptic peers? A new Science study used a large phylogeny of #amphibians with known warning coloration to assess how such displays evolve. scim.ag/1Vt

Frog cologne and perfume? 🐸 Chemical signals are likely used during mating in some frogs. Brunetti et al. (2023) found that some of the odors were coming from symbiotic microbial communities found on the skin of Burmeister's Treefrog. amphibiaweb.org

Whether you still think that amphibians don't have much to offer when it comes to elaborate behaviours, or ❤️ them as much as Eva Ringler Jenny Stynoski #LisaSchulte and I do, have a look at our new Annual Reviews on what they can teach us about #parentalcare rb.gy/dbhvm

Our 🚨new paper🚨published in Zoomorphology about the development of granular glands in three bufonid species 🐸. When tadpoles start synthesizing chemical defenses is still unclear ❓ doi.org/10.1007/s00435… The conclusion of my licenciatura with my excellent advisor Jenny Stynoski

Most amphibians live in aquatic environments. The life cycle of some species starts as aquatic larvae with gills known as tadpoles. They spend most of their early stages in water, making water a vital resource for their development. Today is #WorldWaterDay 🎥 RSPB
