#NEWPAPER Monk parakeets, often near pigeons, show a seroprevalence of Newcastle virus of 38%, suggesting cross-species transmission. This is not the case of Kramer parakeets. Urban environments facilitate disease transmission btw native and exotic species tinyurl.com/4exf4cf7

Dear Alaska Airlines - I get that there are aircraft shuffling issues w/ the 737 Max9 inspections. But why cancel all pet cargo shipments, even for flights that are direct, still scheduled on time, & shipper is willing to wait until the pet is on the plane? It's magnifying hassles

NEW: NYC Sanitation has issued *1,697* summonses for property owners failing to remove snow and/or ice since 8am. Asked about this today, the commissioner told me: “there is no grace period. It’s a question of safety.” #NBC4NY

"The Future of Trash is Here"... but it was in European cities 20 years ago. One of the first things I noticed in Vienna, Barcelona, etc. was the dedicated dumpsters/recycling bins at most residential intersections. Let's hope this is a 1st step in rodent control in NYC, as well

I'm on NIH webinar (which is informative), & as so often happens, the speakers entirely overlooked PUI researchers. They listed funding options people apply for during their careers & R15 was not listed in an "exhaustive" list. A LOT of valuable research/training happens @ PUIs!

Comment from our animal use committee on our protocol tracking rat aboveground habitat use: "Explain why other species (eg mice) cannot substitute and why remote sensing without handling would not work" My reply: "Mice cannot substitute in this study because they are not rats."

What to do when you get a fraudulent account set up in your name with AT&T & menacing bills, but you can't actually get thru to a human to deal with the problem after 2 hours on the phone. What do you recommend AT&T Help, that won't take 2 hours & accomplish nothing??

A reminder that we can achieve environmental successes. Some things are terrible now. The don't need to be terrible forever. B4 CWA 1/3 of our waters were unswimmable or unfishable CWA was vetoed by President Nixon, but Congress overrode the veto. waterkeeper.org/news/bipartisa…
