Gifts and donations to charity in a will are normally exempt from Inheritance Tax. To qualify for the Inheritance Tax exemption the charity requires a Charity Reference Number. #legacy #charity #benefactor

If you die without a will, your estate is distributed in accordance with the rules of intestacy. These rules make no mention of donations to any organisations (charitable or otherwise), and if you have no living family members, all your property & possessions will go to the Crown

When should I set up my Power of Attorney? Whatever age you are now - that's a good time. If you lose your faculties or your ability to look after yourself mentally, then the question is what happens to your finances and who will make decisions on your care? Julie 07960036309

A Lasting Power of Attorney is where you nominate a friend or relative to take over your affairs IF you lose your faculties. There's a separate health and welfare one, giving someone the ability to control your health and welfare decisions. You should have both in place. #LPA

Does power of attorney override a will? So long as your will is valid, a power of attorney cannot change it or rewrite it. This is not within their scope of authority even if it specifically says otherwise in your power of attorney assignment #powerofattorney #LPA #Wills

You can choose more than one attorney but if you do then you need to decide how they will make decisions separately or together attorneys can make decisions on their own or with other attorneys together - which means all the attorneys have to agree on the decision
