Mooie bijeenkomst van de CDA en Christen Unie business clubs bij AFAS in Leusden. Dank voor de uitnodiging te spreken over het boek 'Capitalism Reconnected. Toward a Sustainable, Inclusive and Innovative Market Economy in Europe' van Govert Buijs en mij. Economie en ethiek!

Bijzondere donderdagochtend in Den Haag. Eerst een gesprek met Quillaume Abraham Spiering, achterkleinzoon van Dr. Abraham Kuyper, minister-president van 1901-1905 (ter voorbereiding van mijn Korea-bezoek). En daarna met Mark Rutte 'Bijpraatgesprek van twee oud-premiers'. Leuk.

Donderdagmiddag meegedaan aan symposium 80 jaar Benelux en gewezen op belang van de inbreng van jongeren, partnerschappen ook met de private sector en de betekenis van 'values'. Mooi om dit samen te doen met vroegere collega's Yves Leterme (België) en Jean Asselborn (Luxemburg).

Donderdagavond bijeenkomst van het Abraham Kuyper Erfgoedcentrum Maassluis. Zeer gewaardeerd om het eerste exemplaar van 'De Zeven Levens van Abraham Kuyper' van auteur Johan Snel te ontvangen. Daarna toespraak over de betekenis van deze staatsman en zijn inspiratie voor mij.

Excellent exchange of views with the Leader of the Ruling Party in Korea (People Power Party) Mr. Dong-hun Han, who knows a lot about the Netherlands (Ameland!). Together with Mrs. Alink and Mr. De Bock of the Dutch Embassy and Professors Paul Iske and Boohwan Byun.

Great meeting with the President of the Republic of Korea H.E. Yoon Suk-yeol. Inspiring exchange of views on Korean-Dutch cooperation, security issues, Europe and sustainability. And looking back at the State Visit of President Yoon to the Netherlands on 12-13 December 2023.

Very glad with the Honorary Doctorate in Economics given by Sogang University in Seoul, Korea. It has been a great ceremony with so many nice remarks. Thanks to the President of the University Sim Jong Heyok S.J. and Professor Lee KyooTai.

A fantastic morning at Sogang University: an Honorary Doctoral Degree in Economics at Sogang University. The congratulatory remarks by former Secretary General Ban Ki-moon were impressive. And great that the Dutch Ambassador to Korea H.E. Peter van der Vliet could attend.

Korea Social Value Festa: excellent event of the Korean Chamber of Commerce to stimulate societal initiatives. 'Building a Sustainable Future'. Meetings with the Korean Automobile Environmental Association about new realities and with the successful company Autocrypt.

Very good initiative of Sogang University (last Tuesday) to organize an ESG Forum on cooperation between university and industry. Friday a lecture on Christian Social Thought at Chongshin University. Here with President Sung Kya Park, and - again - with Dr. Abraham Kuyper.

Final day: very productive meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs Cho Tea-yul. Visit to the Dutch Embassy. Ambassador Peter van der Vliet and his team were of great help! Last moment of the visit with Boohwan Byun who has organized the programme in a fantastic way.

During the Korea visit and at the meetings with the President and the Minister of Foreign Affairs attention was given to the work of the Global Centre on Adaptation, especially in Africa. SG UN Ban Ki-moon is Chair, Prof. Patrick Verkooijen is CEO and I am Exec.Member of GCA.
