What God demands from us is the action, not the outcome; struggle, not salvation. Doing away with the bottomless pit is a result of partnership between one's continuous struggle and the grace that supports and rewards.

Do not let weakness and fall discourage you. Do not cease crying out to God so that you may obtain the grace of liberation, and as long as your heart calls out, you are a victor. You are defeated only when you stop crying out and struggling, in hope of victory.
