Very glad to meet Ms. Joyce Msuya Joyce Msuya, Acting Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator. The UN can always count on China's unwavering support for global humanitarian affairs and its continued engagement in humanitarian rescue
Millions of people live in hopeless protracted crises year after year. This $100 million CERF - The UN's emergency fund allocation aims to alleviate some of the suffering of those caught up in conflict, displacement, & climate emergencies. I urge donors to keep their eyes on these underfunded crises.
In my meeting with General Al-Burhan, President of the Transitional Sovereign Council of Sudan, I heard firsthand of the progress in aid delivery. I reiterated the United Nations's commitment to supporting the government and people of Sudan facing multiple crises.
Glad to announce that we've allocated $5M from CERF - The UN's emergency fund to help communities in #Chad weather the impact of the floods. Amidst dealing with the spillover effects from Sudan, these funds will help reduce ➖risk of cholera ➖pre-existing food insecurity ➖infant mortality rates
For over a decade, #Mauritania has generously hosted refugees. Understandably, this puts pressure on local resources including the health sector.⚕️ I am allocating $3M from CERF - The UN's emergency fund to support the provision of life-saving assistance for both Malian refugees and host communities.
🌊#Bangladesh has been hit by its 4th climate disaster this year, leaving millions in urgent need. Our CERF - The UN's emergency fund allocation of $4M will help humanitarian partners provide critical support to the 5.8M people affected by the floods. Let's stand with Bangladesh in this time of need.
A historic drought triggered by #ElNiño has led to crop failures and starving children in #Lesotho. I am allocating $2M from CERF - The UN's emergency fund to scale up humanitarian assistance for communities to access sufficient food. However, long-term resilience is needed to prevent future crises.
This mother is among the thousands grappling with multiplied challenges in #SouthSudan. Fighting, lack of food and sanitation amidst #floods are just a few of them. This CERF - The UN's emergency fund allocation brings vital lifelines to communities - urgent healthcare, clean water, and safe shelter.
99% of us breathe polluted air. As I wind down on #WorldCleanAirDay, I'll be hitting play on UN Environment Programme's mix of tracks.🎶 Join me in taking a moment to reflect on the air we share. Clean air is everyone's responsibility, and together, we can clear the way for a healthier future.
