WAN-IFRA, through its Women in News programme, has successfully completed its important mission in Tanzania. Activities during the one-week mission commenced with a training session on managing sexual harassment at Uhuru FM! I and Jane Godia facilitated the session.

WAN-IFRA/ Women in News’ recently completed a critical mission in Tanzania. Day 2 of the mission focused on the following topics: -Inclusive election coverage -An introduction to gender equality, diversity, and inclusion The discussions were engaging and insightful.

I am grateful to the Media Council of Tanzania for the opportunity they gave me to represent the Council’s President during the recent dialogue on the role of the media during elections.

Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan commended Beatrice Bandawe, Managing Editor of Nipashe Newspaper, for winning the 2024 WAN-IFRA/Women in News Leadership Award. She made the remarks on June 18, 2024, during the second forum on Media Development Sector held in Dar.

What a joy for Tanzania! We are celebrating an incredible milestone for 14 women journalists who have just completed a prestigious nine-month leadership program run by WAN-IFRA/Women in News. I am grateful for the opportunity to coach these great women throughout their journey.

No more limits, no more fear- just bold, powerful, and confident. They are now ready to lead newsrooms like never before! Thanks to WAN-IFRA/Women in News for providing them to 9-month leadership program.

This year’s theme, *"Women and Girls 2025: To Improve Justice, Equality, and Empowerment," reminds us of the vital work still to be done to ensure a future where all women and girls are treated equally, have access to justice, and are empowered to reach their fullest potential.
