As the groups shared ideas for their perfect communities they took note of important parts. This is the final list after all of the groups shared.

Next Marc Beechuk presented information about the Growth Concept Map. Beechuk highlighted land use and zoning as major focuses in the process. One point that stood out was that only 5% of the land in Athens Clarke County is zoned as residential multi-family.

This is the current timeline of of the Growth Concept Map. Currently the process is in the public input phase after finishing data collection in July.

Athens-Clarke County Mayor Kelly Girtz is on campus at UGA today discussing the new Classic Center Arena. I will be listening and reporting the arena’s impact on Athens and it’s citizens. #ACC

Girtz discussed the economic impacts of The Classic Center Arena. The four main impacts being $33 million in annual economic impact, 90,000 new hotel room nights, $8.7 million in taxes from new development and 600 new jobs created.
