The junction system was one of the coolest and most flexible stat management systems in any RPG. It was just the drawing/magic system it relied on that hurt it.

I played my Kuja commander deck (megaburn from non-creature spells) against a deck that made me mill like 50% of my deck, and then won by playing this in Overload mode. Also had lifelink at the time. I dunno if I’ll ever hit that high again.

But for real, way more games should have playable endings/epilogues. It’s an interactive medium, and switching to a movie when you beat the final boss is the least interesting way to end an interactive story.

The experience watching Weapons in a packed theater was so fun and engaging. A.I. could NEVER illicit that kind of response from an audience. Ironic since they used AI in one of the trailers, but still. Made me hopeful that great art will always rise above mass-produced slurry.

You’re really missing out if you don’t watch Weapons in a packed theater, without much knowledge about the movie. So fun.

I haven’t gotten involved but my prediction remains: There will be multiple lifestream “interludes” between various chapters after Cloud separates from the party. The ones before THE sequence will focus on other stuff, like Aerith. The main sequence will still be Cloud/Tifa.

Only when Magic the Gathering cards are on the way.

Getting into MTG has reminded me how much of a sore loser I am. It’s like I’m not even myself when I start losing. Don’t know how to turn it off. Lowkey scary. Nothing really awful; just slightly too rude. Almost quit the hobby because of it last week.
