A tough, but rewarding 36 hours accessing the second oxbow lake to understand seasonal and long-term changes in lake physiochemistry. Excited to see what the water and sediment samples will tell us and to work with Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) to share these secrets more widely #TeamOxbow

Another day of processing ahead of our trip to the third and final lake of the trip. Cores opened and sediment segmented for further chemical and physical analysis. A sand lense in one of the lakes indicates flooding or reoccupation before returning to calm conditions #TeamOxbow

Great to wrap up surveying on the third and final oxbow lake. Water profiling complete, lake-bed cores extracted, and my first glimpse of the infamous Bolivian Caiman - well, kind of... #TeamOxbow

A tough 8 hours bent over our cores, but finally all segmented and bagged for further analysis on their chemical and physical characteristics πŸ‘ŒπŸ₯΅ #TeamOxbow

A mega two weeks in Bolivia collecting essential data to further our understanding of the controls and functioning of oxbow lakes. Great to have Josh Wolstenholme & Prof. Dan Parsons @LboroUniversity πŸŒπŸ’§πŸ›°πŸŒŠβš½οΈπŸβ›³πŸˆ to help out and I look forward to analysing our findings w/Savannah Worne over the next few months! #TeamOxbow

Had the best couple of days meeting some lovely people and hearing about loads of really exciting projects. Interesting to hear people call my research area β€˜niche’, but then aren’t all PhD topics niche? Also good to raise awareness of MPhils as another route to research! πŸ€“

Working with my CASE partners Environment Agency as part of my CENTA PhD. In conjunction with Catchment Sensitive Farming Defra UK Natural England Forestry Commission I have produced a small case study on my research into biodiversity of sediment ponds - tinyurl.com/yc4mrffm
