Congratulations to the 2024 PGRN Collaboration Grant recipients Drs. Josephine Li and Shylaja Srinivasan Shylaja Srinivasan for their project tilted "Unraveling the Genetic Factors Influencing Metformin Levels"!

Fantastic ongoing cross-border collaboration between MassGeneral Medicine endocrinologist Jacqueline Seiglie MD MSc and Mexican epidemiologist Omar Bello Chavolla yields impressive results featured at #ENDO2024!

The amazing 2024 class MGH IM Residents had the courage to come to MGH during COVID, endured/led/managed disruptive change, and learned that teamwork makes us better doctors, scientists, teachers and citizens. Congratulations, thank you and Godspeed!

Joined the MGH Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine faculty retreat & witnessed the strategic thinking of all involved in a climate of transparency & collegiality, particularly toward our Brigham & Women's Pulmonary and Critical Care colleagues whom we'll engage as we integrate Mass General Brigham. Congrats to Eric Schmidt for leading thru change!

Thrilled to see my friend and colleague Stephen Parker Ph.D. theparkerlab honored with the 2024 Outstanding Scientific Achievement Award by the American Diabetes Association! His work on functional genomics in type 2 diabetes is groundbreaking and visionary. Plus he's a really nice guy!

Brilliant talk on type 2 diabetes heterogeneity by Shivani Misra at 2024 #ADASciSessions reiterates that T2D is a diagnosis of exclusion, and a one-size-fits-all approach is inadequate by neglecting population diversity.

Provocative question by Shivani Misra at her 2024 #ADASciSessions talk: if “typical” type 2 diabetes (obese, late-onset) was defined in Europeans, and 4/5 people with T2D are non-European (often lean & younger), shouldn’t the T2D described above be labeled “atypical”?

As geneticists, we lean on genomic medicine as an anchor to explain and leverage heterogeneity in type 2 diabetes: kudos to #ADASciSessions symposium organizers and Tiffany Gary-Webb for showcasing social determinants of health as key, possibly stronger contributors.

Wonderful and informative Symposium on #PrecisionMedicine in #Diabetes - Chantal Mathieu, Jose Florez, and Rochelle Naylor

Over the past year Mass General Heart has said goodbye through retirement or passing to Cardiology giants of Mass General Brigham MassGeneral Medicine: Dolph Hutter, Roman DeSanctis, Tim Guiney. We & our patients are much better off for having met, learned from, & be inspired by them. Godspeed!

La final de la #EURO2024 hace temblar el suelo !! Sismómetros del IGN Sismología en Madrid y del ICGC. Generalitat en Barcelona detectan las vibraciones durante las celebraciones de los goles GEO3BCN - CSIC

Thrilled to see giants of human genetics recognized by ASHG ASHG, including Harvard Medical School's own Cynthia Morton. Congratulations!

Blessed with another class of stellar Chief Residents MGH IM Residents: Drs. Kelly Buchanan Kelly Buchanan, Mike Kelly, Karina Ruiz-Esteves & Sarah "SK" Kler Sarah Kler started the year in stride and guided us through the CrowdStrike fiasco. They share a "K", hence their moniker KOMPASS.

Your MassGeneral Medicine family wishes Katrina Armstrong best of luck, wisdom and fortitude as you lead Columbia University through challenging waters. The future of academia depends on it!

The MGH IM Residents Stanbury program attracts and trains top physician-scientists. At this year's summer retreat, MassGeneral Medicine family member Rochelle Walensky, MD, MPH shared her insights on matters relevant to her tenure as CDC Director.

Honored, humbled and excited to become the inaugural Chair of Mass General Brigham Department of Medicine MassGeneral Medicine Brigham and Women's Hospital. Grateful to continue working with Bruce Levy and Colleen Curry in a unified Department as we navigate tumultuous waters ahead. AMCs have a future!
