We started the SOAR idea back in 2019 and now, years later, we are in year 2 of the 5-year U.S. National Science Foundation RCN grant establishing the network! I am super excited to see the network SOAR with Dr. Katie Glover (she/her) #BLM, Rodolfo Dirzo, many partners & two field stations Stanford’s Jasper Ridge BP & SF Bay Bird Observatory!

We are now online with our very own Motus Wildlife Tracking System (MOTUS) station (Birds Canada)! It will help strengthen our ornithology research, elevate U.S. National Science Foundation SOAR grant education activities, & understand the impacts of disturbance on migratory animals. motus.org

Today our Motus station detected its first bird - a Band-tailed pigeon tagged by California Department of Fish and Wildlife. Very excited to add a MOTUS station to JRBP'O'O! One of the first research projects I brought and funded as ED. It will bring so many exciting opportunities for research, education and to apply what we learn from this technology to inform our stewardship activities!
