If we want AI to be for humanity, then we need everyone involved in the conversation, experts especially. Like the founding of the US, there was a great debate on how to structure our democracy. We need the same for how to structure a world with AGI and superintelligence in it.

Society functions well today in large part from many implicit guard rails every one of us helps uphold. We refuse unethical goals, whistleblow illegal actions, and hold our peers to moral standards. With humans removed from the economy, what was implicit must become explicit.

As someone in the industry, yes that counts! I think it's actually more important that folks outside industry get involved in the conversation, this involves all of us, and the biggest decisions should be informed by all of us.

Important consideration from Sam Altman 's post. Concentration of power is a major risk of AI, and we need to address it before AGI arrives. Once a government is fully automated, it may not be possible to resist it.

SV culture is about wanting to change the world. We're on the cusp of a technology that will redefine civilization, and some people are wondering how to squeeze out dollars before it's too late. Instead let's think about how to shape the future at this highest leverage moment

in the near future with AGI-powered federal agencies, no amount of resignations will matter to slow down a government with unconstitutional goals as employees, our chance to make a difference is today. tomorrow is too late

An important discussion on an under explored threat. As we deploy AI this is a key topic we need society to engage in. How do we want an automated future to look? How can we ensure we're enhancing liberty as we enhance government power with automation?

Glad to see the discussion around AI risk begin to highlight the multiple different risks in front of us, including the risk of war and of cementing authoritarianism. There are challenging tensions between the different risks and mitigations that require open debate to resolve

Great post on getting out of imposter syndrome. I think like many endeavors in life, getting the feedback loop right is the most important thing. Everything compounds from there 🔄

Before money, human societies tended to use credit/debit (and minimal bartering). But most ended up developing money 💵 What's the next step in this evolution? Could compute take the place of money, in the age of AGI? Here's a mini-analysis based on definitions of money and

Great to chat with folks at Startup School! Founders are used to dealing with tough problems and taking ownership of every detail, even when they seem like someone else's problem. That makes them uniquely positioned to help us think through how AI is going to reshape our world.
