It's kind of wild that the conclusion made from numbers like this is always "millennials are profligate," rather than "coffee is a ripoff." A regular takeaway coffee should be accessible to most ppl!

75 year olds today were born in 1949, they were teenagers in the 60s and the only war they’d have fought in would be the Falklands, if they’d chosen to enlist. Our perception of pensioners as Vera Lynn singing D-Day veterans is 20 years out of date

The ninth of the 14 parts of the second report of the inquiry into the Grenfell fire – the one whose name, as I scanned the contents pages, made me catch my breath – is called, simply, “The deceased”. It runs for 220 pages. newstatesman.com/comment/2024/0…

Ah christ, I can't even begin with this one, but I do feel the need to say that the paragraph below is demonstrably and very clearly total bullshit. The report quite firmly found the opposite

As my blog post will say on Tuesday, this government was elected to restore public services, not 'sort out the public finances'. Labour will continue to decline in the polls until they show some sign that they understand this.

They can say this all they like, and it has a grab of truth, but if they go back to the electorate and public services are still a mess, rivers are still full of sewage, roads full of potholes, jails overstuffed, etc, then I suspect “we fixed public finances” won’t cut it.

If Labour try and act like that the country is happy for yet more sacrifices and penury, then they will lose and deserve to lose the next election. They’d deserve never to gain power ever again.

David was my boyfriend for a year and my friend for three years after that; I think a lot of couples say that they want to remain in each other's lives after they break up but few really manage it I'm so glad we did, and so devastated that he won't be a part of my life anymore
