It wasn't obvious to me right away, but to use the new thin film interference Cycles feature in Blender 4.2, set the regular IOR to 1 so the solid inside of the object doesn't refract at all. Input real values or push them for artistic effect. Looks amazing!

I think a big part of modeling is just recognizing which areas are flexible and not locking them in until the important parts are done. That and starting over like six times.

To practice the dark art of using triangles and n-gons when subdivision surface modeling, I turn wires on at 50% and optimal display off. It's pretty cool to be able to see the final flow of quads update as you go, and it makes it really easy to spot pinch points.

Fun fact, I think there are only two other Jonathan Lampels in the world and one of them defrauded small businesses out of hundreds of thousands of dollars around the time I was in middle school. Took years to get him below the front page of results lol.
