Shared my thoughts on the House floor today about the killing of my constituent #AnthonyAlvarez (1/3) I didn't watch the video. But I don't need to see it to know: there's nothing Anthony could have done to deserve being shot in the back five times while he ran.

We stand in solidarity with the Palestinian residents of Sheikh Jarrah in East Jerusalem. Israeli forces are forcing families from their homes during Ramadan and inflicting violence. It is inhumane and the US must show leadership in safeguarding the human rights of Palestinians.

I am extremely concerned by the growing conflict in Israel and Palestine. Once again we are seeing how the irresponsible actions of government-allied right-wing extremists in Jerusalem can escalate quickly into devastating war.

By only stepping in to name Hamas’ actions - which are condemnable - & refusing to acknowledge the rights of Palestinians, Biden reinforces the false idea that Palestinians instigated this cycle of violence. This is not neutral language. It takes a side - the side of occupation.

Let us hope that the ceasefire in Gaza holds. But that's not enough. Our job now is to support desperately needed humanitarian and reconstruction aid to Gaza’s people, and find a way to finally bring peace to the region.

A third school found the remains of Native children buried under their school. Think about that. Hundreds of bodies of children are being found. That’d be massive news if it wasn’t Native kids. Where is the outrage? Where is the support? Why doesn’t anyone care?
