So... someone just suggested I should give up institute director office to go into an open plan space with the interns so a more junior man with 10x less staff could have an office instead. I do have to wonder if I were a man would this ridiculous suggestion even been voiced?

I have written a lot of grant applications in the last 20 years, & seem to be pretty good at it considering the success rate, but there is something particularly demotivating about ARC applications...Maybe the length and complexity and need to constantly check compliance details.
