This is the end of a very sorry saga: a barge that Bristol City Council purchased for £1.4m will be broken up and sold for scrap bristol247.com/news-and-featu…

A £1.4m barge bought to clear the view for three restaurants is now in such bad condition that it will be sold for scrap. (Harbour master’s responsibility?) £273k was cut from short term breaks for disabled children. Plenty of money to throw at some things. Fatbird 🍃💚🍃

Zippy Martin Booth 2019 cabinet members argued they didn’t have enough details about the costs and legal advice to make an informed decision, including how officers arrived at the £1.4m sum, and that there was no evidence of consultation. bristol247.com/news-and-featu…

May 2022: The Bristol Arena is on target to open in 2024, both its developer & the city mayor have insisted. Marvin Rees, who scrapped the original plans for Arena Island in Sept 2018, wrote: "On target for delivery in 2024 at no cost to the public." bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol-n…

Just reading through the council meeting information and I came across the following demanded of the public: "When attending public meetings you must behave with courtesy, tolerance and respect at all times to Councillors, Council Officers and other meeting participants."

Martin Rands @martr101.bsky.soc Bristol City Council I find it rather dubious that we might find money to help out the Underfall Yard Trust while the harbour has losses of millions and residents of the houseboats are being treated so badly. Why is there always money for some?

We can’t even do this in the public forum section of our meetings here in Bristol because the officers and councillors won’t let us ask questions. Occasionally the questions get through. The answers are then non-answers.

£18k for the Labour mayor's State of the City address in 2023. Why did it need illustrations and animation? I'm trying to remember any cartoons that were released of it and am failing.

“It gives access to the vice-chair of specific information, which is fine, I think that’s important. But if that vice-chair isn’t supportive of the chair, that’s problematic." Councillors only allowed information if they agree with the ruling party? bristol247.com/news-and-featu…

A council employee's fraud went undetected for 17 years. “An Accounts Commission report has now said council controls which were in place were not adhered to and lacked scrutiny.” Bristol City Council — this is why we question audit. search.app/?link=https%3A…
