Slowly getting back to painting. Got some militia ready for basing to add to my AK47 Republic force for our Club campaign. And started on some more Eldar for my 40k 2nd Edition force. Lots of red!

What’s better than space elves? Space elves riding dinosaurs! One of the best units GW never made, Eldar Exodite Knights for 40k 2nd Edition. Nice to get some painting done after a bit of a lay-off.

A hard fought battle in our AK47 campaign last night. The Prophet led a successful coup & takeover of the Presidential Palace in Zangara City. Late arrival of professional tanks & the dogged defence of the palace guard gave me some moments, but right is might & victory was ours!

49 years ago yesterday the greatest comic ever published (although 2000AD gives it a good run) was published for the first time. I remember this & the free page of stickers included although my copy has long since gone. But here’s to D-Day Dawson, Bootneck Boy, Major Easy, et al.

Absolute highlight game of Cavalier for me - Maidstone Wargame's Society's Battle of Britain game. Deceptively simple but buckets of fun and run by a really friendly group of gamers. Had to stop myself buying even more 2mm terrain after this one!

Finally got started on my 40k 2nd Edition Eldar Exodite Knights! Well at least their mounts! Actual riders up next.

The scratch built shanty buildings have come out alright. Mixed in with some of the superb Timecast buildings. Waiting for some 3D printed scatter to arrive then I can base them up in groups.

Our Club AK47 campaign continues to play havoc with my New Year painting plans. Today I started on some shanty town scenery. Foamboard, corrugated card, balsa and a hot glue gun. Lots more to do but a decent start.

Welcome return to an old favourite as our AK47 Republic campaign kicked off. What a great fun game the original AK47 is. An almost perfect blend of ImagiNations, world building, luck & some clever, subtle rules makes for a really fun time. Oh & great modelling opportunities.

The mercenary column is finished. Bit of rework on the tank tracks as I forgot to add a layer of GW Stirland Mud texture paint. Really useful for roughing up the too clean plastic. But then had to weather again. The sort of thing absolutely no one is going to notice on the table!

Some more reinforcements for our AK47 campaign. Peter Pig airborne jeeps with crew & weapons added make a good merc column. The rest are diecast toys picked up years ago with added Peter Pig crew. Bit like putting lipstick on a pig but they’ve come out alright. Just basing to do!

After many years we’ve started another campaign using the Peter Pig AK47 rules. So it was time to finish off some tanks and dust-off the technicals for my force.

Exciting stuff! The campaign pack for my Sharp Practice Campaign Day this weekend is finished and not before time! 20 players, 5 tables and 10 linked games. Hopefully it’ll all hang together on the day 🤞 #spreadthelard
