Found this interesting fungus growing on a wooden box that was sat in my garden all summer. Does anyone know what it is? John Wright ?
the next batch of #homebrew from John Wright recipe is ready to transfer to the keg (minus the used up yeast although watching Tales from The Green Valley with Alex Langlands I learnt the 'sludge' from the ale barrel is very nutritious so will give that a go next time)

Always a pleasure to cook for John Wright Mushroom Foray Lisa de Garston. They found over 65 species of mushrooms just around the fields near our kitchen. Not bad for one afternoon of foraging!
Look forward to seeing you again next year.
Not 100% sure what this is, anyone?

Happy publication day to John Wright and this glorious book - it opened my eyes to so many details in the world around us, from things I'd always wondered about (squirrel nests!) to features I'd've otherwise missed. It's joyous, curious + big-hearted and everyone should read it
Brilliant day out with the fabulous John Wright today. 50 species of mushrooms found. Rather apt on my 50th birthday!
Iβm a slow reader, but also a slow buyer. It had been on my radar since publication in 2014 but I had other things on my mind and Iβve only just got this by John Wright and am much enjoying it.

I take two things from John Wright (1) I am more closely related to a coelacanth than the coelacanth is to a herring, and (2) Iβm glad Iβm an entomologist and not a mycologist.
Look what dropped though my letterbox the other day! Thank you Profile Books I did the artwork way back in January I think and I almost forgot it was due to be published. It was lovely to create something for another John Wright book.
I spent the past week hiking and mushrooming in the Wye Valley. Successfully consumed parasols, field mushrooms, brittlegills, fairy-ring champignons, bay boletes, slippery jacks and puffballs all without poisoning myself thanks to the writings of John Wright
