As a boy, I read about #JohnLewis. As a man, I had a chance to work with him. Today, as a dad, I was proud to share the unveiling of his monument with my daughter. Georgia law said we couldn’t take down confederate statues, but that sucker got replaced today. #GAPol #GoodTrouble

So honored to be among colleagues, friends & the people today on Decatur Square to honor my friend & mentor John Lewis with a statue befitting the great man. Special shoutout to my wife, DeKalb Co. Commissioner Mereda Davis Johnson for spearheading such a transformative project.

Happy 94th Birthday to the incomparable Civil Rights Leader and Broadcast Executive, Xernona Clayton! She worked alongside Dr. King and Coretta Scott King and later became the first Southern Black prime time talk show host. Without her Atlanta wouldn’t be the city it is today.
