In news from other parts of the globe, the first Typhoon in the Pacific of 2021 emerged east of the Philippines. It's named Typhoon Surigae and is the equivalent of a Category 4 Hurricane at this time. Further intensification is forecast with 125 kt winds forecast at its peak.
